Medical Writer/Epidemiologist




Anita van den Biggelaar completed her MSc (Biomedical Sciences; 1996) and PhD (2002) at the Leiden University (the Netherlands) and post-doctoral degrees in Epidemiology at The Institute for Research in Extramural Medicine (Vrije Universiteit Medical Center, Amsterdam) and Immunology (Amsterdam-Leiden Institute Centre for Immunology) in 2004. Anita has experience working as an academic researcher (Leiden University Medical Centre) and Telethon Institute for Child Health Research/Telethon Kids Institute, Perth) and in pharmaceutical industry (Crucell, Janssen Pharmaceutical companies of Johnson and Johnson) on immuno-epidemiology and vaccinology related research and development questions, with a particular focus on bacterial vaccines. 

She has experience conducting field trials in low-income countries including Indonesia, Ghana, Gabon and Papua New Guinea, where she still collaborates with the Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research through her part-time appointment at the Telethon Kids Institute in Perth, Australia. Anita joined P95 in October 2016.
